Mac Tire is a musician, performer, and researcher.

His work focuses on sound design, live electronics and multidisciplinary performances, with a strong interest in using water and instruments of his own design.
He describes himself as a water alchemist.

His artistic research combines sound and the motion of water; starting from an observation of sea waves, his interest in sampling and reworking natural sounds was born. Electronics plays a key role in this research leading him to create Cariddi.

Cariddi is an electroacoustic instrument capable of using water as a sonic nucleus through interactive controls, which give to the performer the ability to interact with water through movement. The instrument is designed to create whirlpools, sealed in four ampoules, sampling their sound using hydrophones; the sound is then modified using effects pedals giving the performer the ability to recreate the sound and unpredictability of tides.
